What To Do On Mother’s Day

If you’re married, dating, or with someone that has a child, Mother’s Day is an important day to show her that you appreciate, respect, and admire the type of Mother that she is. Celebrating the day with her, will be your way of saying she’s a great mother and she deserves to be appreciated.

Here, we’ll go over things you can do on Mother’s Day to help make her day great and to make her feel like the special woman that she is.

When is Mother’s Day?

Mother’s Day is always the second Sunday in May.

Should I get her a card?

Married Guys

Definitely!  If you’re married with children, this is a nice way to thank her for being the mother she is and to express your feelings to her too.  Get a card that is nice, sweet, or romantic and write something to her.  For another smile, make sure if you’re kids aren’t old enough to go buy a card themselves, get one for them to give to her too.

Single Guys Dating/With Someone

If you’re dating or seeing someone with a child, you should definitely get her a card too.  Get a nice and sweet card that’ll make her smile and write something in it, letting her know you see how good of a mother she is to her child.  It’ll let her know that you respect that she’s a mother and it’ll make her feel special knowing that you acknowledge her being a mother and think of her also on Mother’s Day.

What should I do for her on Mother’s Day?

On Mother’s Day, you should take care of her and make sure she spends the day relaxing and enjoying it.  Take her out to lunch or dinner, cook her a meal, take her out, or just keep her smiling all day.  It’s entirely up to you.

We have some places you can try to take her in our “Places to Go” page but also keep in mind her favorite restaurant or a place she’s been wanting to go to, are perfect things to do for Mother’s Day.

Also remember to include your children or hers when making your plans for Mother’s Day.

Should I get her a gift?

If you made plans for Mother’s Day like dinner or taking her out some place, that can be your gift to her, but try to get her something small with that also.  If you don’t have plans for dinner or taking her out, a gift is a nice little surprise to get her for Mother’s Day.

Here are some great gift ideas you can use:

  • Perfume
  • Flowers  (see our “Buying Flowers” page for help on picking a flower)
  • Jewelry
  • Gift Basket
  • CD or DVD
  • Book
  • Anything related to a new trend that she’s into

You can choose any one of these gifts, a combination of these gifts, or if you know something she would love, go for it.  I’m sure she’ll love and appreciate whichever you choose.
