Christmas

When Christmas starts to creep around, we all start wondering the same things.  What in the world do I get her?  Will she like what I got her?   And our favorite of course, what in the world is she getting me?  But unfortunately, that last question is not what we’re here for fellas.  We’re here to make Christmas more special and fun this year, figure out what gift we can get to put a grin on her face, and to find different ways to make her smile throughout the Christmas season.

How To Make Christmas Fun

The Christmas season is supposed to be a fun and happy time, but if you ever went Christmas shopping or stressed yourself out on what to get someone, you know it can be a stress filled month of craziness and madness.  Their are small changes and ideas that we can do that can make all the difference in making December a great month.

Here are a couple of ideas to help you enjoy the month:

Go Early Christmas Shopping
During the holidays, you gotta try to make the most of the Christmas Season when you have the time, but the problem is getting that time.  If you can, do your Christmas shopping done early and avoid those long lines and crowded stores that always seem to happen around two weeks to go until Christmas.  You’ll thank us later in the month while everyone else is going nuts and you’re at home relaxing and enjoying the countdown to Christmas.

To make your Christmas shopping a little more interesting, take the person you’re with shopping with you and pick up things for your family and friends together.  Have lunch out in between shopping, sip on some hot chocolate together, and enjoy the last week of Christmas not being stuck in traffic or on an hour long line   at a store.

Enjoy the Snow
If your town or city gets hit with snow, have fun with it.  Challenge her to a snowball fight or if she’s playful with you, surprise her with a snowball attack and get her to start a snow war with you.

You can also go skiing, snowboarding, sledding, and ice skating during this time and it’ll make the days towards Christmas a ton of fun.  If you’re into trying to build a snowman, snow angels, or even an igloo, go for it.   Just try to keep something hot to drink on the side waiting for when you’re done freezing your hands off.

See Christmas Displays
During this time of the year, Christmas attractions open up everywhere and give you a few more options of things to do during this time.  Check your local newspaper or search on the internet for Christmas Light Display Shows, Christmas Shows going on in your area, look at neighbor’s light displays around your neighborhood, and in most towns or cities, their are tree lightings going on somewhere.

Kiss Under A Mistletoe
You can find a Mistletoe in the “Seasonal” section of most big stores (Target, Wal-Mart) during the Christmas season, at a Christmas store, or go to a flower shop to see if they have them.  Once you find it, put one in the ceiling somewhere and make sure to stand underneath it and get her to walk right under it too.  Look up, tell her you have to follow Christmas traditions, and give her a nice kiss.

Getting a Christmas Card

For Your Special Someone
For your wife, girlfriend, or the person you’re dating, you’ll want to get them their own personal card from you to them.  Go to any local card store and pick out any kind of card that you feel is right for her.  It can be a funny, romantic, or just plain ol’ sweet card but make sure to also take a little time out to write something on the side of the card from you to her.

For Friends & Family
It’s a nice gesture to get your friends, co-workers, and family Christmas cards during the holidays.  You can get the “more important” people in your life their own specific Christmas card and for everyone else, pick up one or two of those “12” or “25” sets of a Christmas card from your local card store or in the holiday sections of local major stores.  If you are strapped for cash and don’t mind everyone having the same card, just by one of these Christmas card sets and just write a little something specific to each person and either hand them out in person or mail them.

The Right Christmas Gift(s)

For Your Special Someone
When it comes to buying gifts, some of us go crazy trying to figure out what to get her, some of us play detective and try to figure out the best gift to get through her family and friends, and some of us just flat out ask her what it is that she wants to make sure we don’t mess it up but let’s try to surprise her and do something different this year.  Let’s keep her guessing and have fun with the gift(s) that we get her.

Clues for the Perfect Gift
Think back to when you guys talk or go out.  Is there something she’s been wanting for a while?  Did she not buy something because she didn’t have enough money at the time?  Is there something she says she wants but knows she doesn’t need?  All these questions can lead to a great gift.  Just pay attention to these things to get an idea of what to get her.  If you’re ever around her and you see her light up over something (for example a pair of shoes) and she doesn’t get them for whatever reason, try to remember the details of the item (in this case foot size, color of the show, maybe even the name of the show) and go back to the store either the next day or sometime soon and pick them up for her to surprise her on Christmas.

Special Little Gifts
Now you don’t have to go crazy for Christmas, but usually for her you’ll get her more than one gift.  You’ll get one main big gift and a couple of little ones.  Make these smaller gifts special.  If there’s a nickname you call her, get her a gift that deals with that nickname.  If there’s a movie she loves or a movie that reminds you of your relationship together, pick it up and give it to her.  A shirt you know she’ll look great in, sure go get it (and a gift receipt just in case).

Perfect stocking stuffers are maybe her favorite candies or treats wrapped up and little things that will make her smile to be funny and/or a gift card or two to her favorite stores or restaurants.

Stay away from Lingerie as a gift unless it’s something that she’s really wanted because let’s be honest, that’s more of a gift for you than her.  Any kind of cooking or cleaning material should be completely banned from under a Christmas tree, unless of course she really really wants it or needs it.  Just stick to the things you’ll know she’ll be interested in and like.

Lastly, never buy a gift card by itself as your main gift.  It comes across like you don’t know her well and you didn’t try to get a gift that means a little more.  A gift card by itself is a little impersonal so do your best to find some form of an actual gift(s).

Finishing Touch
Lastly, make sure to wrap your gifts up nicely.  If you can’t do it, get somebody to do it for you.  Even the wrapping only last about 5 seconds after it’s in her hands but its all about presentation.  If it looks like you took your time and cared, she’ll appreciate it more than a gift that looks like it was wrapped up in newspaper by a 2 year old.

For Friends & Family
For your family and friends try to get something you know they’ve wanted for a while, something that deals with a theme that they’re into, or something that will help them with their everyday life that’s within your budget.  If necessary, try to start a new tradition with your family or friends like a Secret Santa or Chinese Gift Exchange way of doing Christmas that’ll save you all money, get you all together, and still be fun.

Remember, Christmas isn’t about what you get or give, but more of spending quality time together with the people you love and enjoy being around the most.  Throw a party or a get together and have a blast.
